Stuffed French Toast

Ok, so I love IHOP's stuffed french toast. Like, seriously LOVE IT! I decided to try my hand at making my own. I searched high and low for a recipe, and then I lost the recipe. So this is my homemade version of stuffed french toast.

What you'll need:
Eggs
Milk
Bread
Cream cheese frosting
cinnamon
Chocolate chips (optional)

Betty Crocker's cream cheese frosting recipe :

1 package (8oz) cream cheese, softened
1 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 Cups powdered sugar

In large bowl, beat cream cheese, milk and vanilla with electric mixer on low speed until smooth. Gradually beat in powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, until smooth and spreadable. Refrigerate any remaining frosting.

So I made the frosting first, while my griddle was heating up (350-400 works great!!). I found about 1 loaf of bread (we found 2 bags of bread, neither were full or even half!).

I guessed at how many eggs we'd need (ok, I only had 6 in the house!) then I added milk (about 1/2 cup) for the french toast coating. Which was the perfect amount of eggs for the amount of bread I had. The number of eggs will go up if you use more bread.

Spread the cream cheese frosting on 1 slice of bread, put another slice of bread on top, then dunk it in the french toast coating. Then when the "sandwich" was coated completely, I put it on the griddle and sprinkled cinnamon on the side that was up.

The Mr has been on a "cream cheese and chocolate chip" kick lately, so I put some chocolate chips in 2 of the sandwiches. He was grateful, and said they were amazing!

hen we flipped them over so the other side would cook. We then put the done toasts on a plate. Be sure to put the sandwiches flat on the plate, the frosting inside is "molten lava hot" and makes the bread slide all over.

Then, grab the milk, and the maple syrup (if you desire more sugar!) and dig in!!

The Mr put maple sugar on his, I ate mine without, I was in heaven!!
